Dear Burnt River Bulls Families,

Burnt River School District is working with OSBA, ODE and OHA to keep abreast of latest guidance regarding the COVID -19 pandemic.

Although we had planned to move all Brick and Mortar Bulls to our online program during spring break and rolling out the full platform on April 1, as of Thursday, March 18, we were informed that we will not be permitted to offer new online classes for credit during school closure.  That being said, if your Burnt River student is currently enrolled in online classes, please continue working through them, as they are permitted to continue with their current educational plan.

Our Brick and Mortar students are allowed to participate in the following online activities:

  • I-Ready activities
  • Other online resources that are not a specific class
  • Enhancement/enrichment activities
  • Extension activities

Beginning Wednesday, April 1, Burnt River School District will provide supplemental educational activities for students. Activity packets will be delivered with the Breakfast/Lunch meals in the morning via a school bus. Items will be delivered at regular bus stops once per day. Later this week, we will call families and provide a more specific timetable.

Please remember, this is a very fluid situation.  The ODE is preparing specific guidance this weekend to assist schools in solidifying their plans – the guidance they provide may force us to significantly alter our current plans.

The ODE has prioritized Oregon seniors in high school as the highest priority and they are working diligently to develop standards to adjust certain graduation criteria and allow our Seniors to graduate during the spring of 2020, despite school closure due to COVID -19. We are awaiting a formal announcement early next week.  We will inform you of any changes to graduation requirements as soon as they are announced by ODE.

After the senior graduation requirements are revamped, we are told high school juniors will be the next priority. Many of our Foreign Exchange students will be impacted by the decisions made. I will pass on provisions for transcript completion (Quarter 4) as soon as they are delivered.

Thank You for your patience during these trying times.
