Thank you all for your flexibility last week. Thankfully the city has fixed the pipe and we have water. This week ends with an early dismissal at 12:30 for parent-teacher conferences. Please check in with your child's teacher (s). We'd love to meet with everyone.

Burnt River families and community,
As we head into March, I want to sincerely thank you for your continued support of Burnt River School. We are so fortunate to be part of a community that consistently shows up for our students. Your involvement, encouragement, and partnership make a meaningful difference.
Thank you to everyone who attended the Weed District Dinner and completed the community survey. It was incredibly encouraging to see such positive feedback and strong support for community events and school involvement. I will be reaching out in the coming days and weeks to those who expressed interest in brainstorming and helping move ideas forward. We truly are stronger together.
A special reminder to our seniors and their families: please check your email for important information from Mrs. Craig regarding caps and gowns, applications, scholarships, and other graduation details. Several deadlines have passed, and others are quickly approaching. If you need assistance, please reach out. We are here to help.
Our character focus for March is Empathy and Fairness. We continue to encourage students to consider others’ perspectives, treat one another with respect, and act with integrity. Thank you for reinforcing these values at home.
We are wrapping up basketball season and are proud of the dedication shown by our athletes and coaches. We’ve also enjoyed ski trips and continued meaningful learning in our classrooms as we move toward spring.
Thank you again for your ongoing support of our school and our students.

We have a fun week planned for Read Across America Week! Please see the attached newsletter for more information.
Also . . . Surprise! We're going to go skiing again on Thursday. The kids were just getting the hang of the skiing thing by the time we left on Thursday, so we're going to go again so they can get more practice. It was so nice to see the kids get passed the "I can't phase" of skiing. We're excited for them to practice one more time.

Hopefully, we're done with the illnesses that has literally swept through our entire school (everyone has had one or the other). Please try to be here (if you haven't had a fever for more than 24 hours). To make the goal of 90%, you must be here a minimum of 13.5 days for the month of February. We will have our ski trip on Thursday! Please communicate with your bus driver. We are going to try to leave the school by 7:15. This is always a fun day. Have a great week.

Cindy, Jonathon and I have been assessing the roads tonight. There is quite a bit of snow accumulated with more on the way. We will do a two hour delay to give the road crews time to get to all the bus routes. It will als give us more time to see how the roads are in the morning. We will let you know if anything changes by 7:30.

Have a wonderful week!

Here is the February Newsletter. If you'd like a printed version, please reach out to the school.

Have a wonderful week!

Remember that we will not have school on Monday, January 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr Day. We will return on Tuesday, the 20th. Have a wonderful extended weekend.

Congratulations to Jed Isenberger, January's student of the month!

Welcome back! We started this year strong with 100% in grades K-12!!! Amazing work everyone!

Happy New Year everyone. We hope you're all rested up to come back to finish the year strong. We will see everyone on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Thank you to our staff, community, students, Abigail and Morgan from Missoula Children's Theater for an awesome week. Our students stepped outside their comfort zones and did an amazing job learning the musical in FOUR days! It is amazing what our kids can do! It was so fun to see them gain confidence over the week.
Here is a peek at this week. We have a great, fun week of basketball, learning and team building planned. Be on the look out for a field trip permission slip for Thursday. We have a little surprise for the community up our sleeve. Have a great week and enjoy your Christmas and New Year. Our winter break runs from December 22 - January 1. We will resume school on Monday, January 5, 2026.

We have a fun week ahead with Missoula Children's Theater visiting. We will have our performance Thursday at 5:00. Buses will not run Thursday as we will have dress rehearsal before the performance. Let's make it a great week.

This month we’re shining a light on kindness and caring, celebrating student learning, and thanking our community for an incredibly supportive November. Inside, you’ll also find weather plan reminders, attendance information, and upcoming details for December.

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Attached is this week’s newsletter. As we enter the month of December, I’m asking for your partnership in reaching our goal of 90% of students attending 90% of the time—which means each student can miss no more than one school day this month. We have important (and fun!) learning opportunities planned, and we want every student here to experience them. Thank you for helping us finish the year strong.

Congratulations to November's student of the month.

Thank you so much for making attendance a priority! Our attendance was much, much better last week. Ninety two percent of our students were here 100% of the time. We did have quite a few tardies, but all in all, our attendance numbers were much better. This week, we'll have school Monday, Tuesday and part of Wednesday (dismissed at 12:30). (Take a peek at the schedule for more details.)
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for all of our students, staff and community. We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

Next week at Burnt River School will be a normal week, with a continued focus on strong attendance and showing up ready to learn. We’re especially excited for Thursday, when our students will travel to Prairie City for our first youth basketball game of the season. Please look at the attached newsletter for more information.
